We are the only organisation in the Black Country providing a full range of services for people with sight loss. At the moment we work with around 4000 people.
But our current buildings are old and dilapidated and the Beacon Centre will have no future unless we act now. That’s why we’re building a state of the art centre – so we can go on helping the growing number of people across the Black Country who need our support. The people who use our services have been involved with the plans from the beginning, and the new centre really does reflect their needs:
We not only support people who visit our Centre but also those in the community. The new Centre will also house our outreach service, which visits 3000 people a year, as well as our talking newspaper and charity shop. The Beacon Centre has always been an important resource for the wider community, and this is not going change. What will change is the quality and range of facilities. For a small fee, individuals and groups of local people will be able to use the new improved facilities – whether it’s for sports, other recreational activities, meetings or for functions.
You’ll help by giving even a small amount. If everyone in the Black Country gave £2 we would reach our target.
There are lots to choose from – whether it’s a fashion show, a walk in a beautiful garden or a challenge event.
We have limited resources, and we need fundraisers. We’ll provide ideas, support and materials.
Ask your company, organisation or school to make our Second Site Appeal their charity of the year.
